Book 1

A young boy grows up with his grandfather on a deserted island. Upon his grandfather's death, he climbs to the top of the island mountain to find himself in a land where the people are in hiding, a tyrant rules, and his own name has been forbidden from being spoken. He is William the Last.

William is led underground, where he's taken in by a family in hiding. Unfortunately, his arrival hasn't gone unnoticed, and even the mere mention of his name could lead to death.

News of William's arrival reaches unfriendly ears while his new friends try to conceal his identity. When the villagers discover one of their own has been killed, it becomes clear his presence means trouble.
